Day trips to take from Brisbane

Congrats on making the decision to take a trip to Brisbane. Now, you’re probably wondering what you should do next. As you make your arrangements, make it a point to figure out where in Brisbane you would like to go during your stay. Today, we have come up with a few suggestions for you to consider so you can really make the most of your trip.

North Stradbrook Island

‘Straddie’ is located 30 km from Brisbane and is part of Moreton Bay Marine Park. It’s a great place to go with your kids. The island is home to a variety of wildlife, sea life, and lagoons. It’s also an ideal haven for surfers to catch some waves, and just watch the world from the sea’s perspective.

Depending on your budget and your personal preference, you can choose to camp or stay at one of the many resorts on the island during your stay.

Mount Coot-tha

When you are climbing metaphorical mountains, often times you never get to see the top. The best thing to do is climb a real mountain, preferably Mount Coot-tha.

Mount Coot-tha offers an easy to walk path, perfect for newbies and those who just want to disappear into the forest for a few hours. The trails range from a brisk 15-minute walk to an hour, depending on which one you decide to take. The top of the mountain offers a scenic view that is best seen at sunset.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

When you say Australia, the first thing on everyone’s minds is a kangaroo, the second thing that comes to mind is a koala. Koalas can be found in various places across Australia. It’s also common to find them injured or hurt.

That’s where the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary comes into play. The Lone Koala Sanctuary opened its doors in 1972 with the intent to provide care for koalas in need of attention in the wild. Today, it continues to do its mission with the addition of delivering education about these marsupials.

Aside from koalas, visitors can also find other animals in the sanctuary including reptiles and birds among others. For the best experience, it’s highly recommended to get there early to avoid the crowds.

Byron Bay

Byron Bay is easily one of the best beaches in Australia. If you have “learn to surf” on your bucket list, then now is the time to tick it off. After a day of surfing, you can then take a walk along the  Cape Byron Lighthouse and take in the stunning views worthy of at least a hundred likes on social media.

Speaking of which, make sure to keep your eye on the water to have a chance in seeing a dolphin or a whale in real life. Something truly worth writing about.

Now that you have a better idea on where to go, make your plans and reservations. What’s more, you should also consider booking a car rental in Brisbane to make the trip a lot easier for you to get to these beautiful destinations.
