Sail to Southern Spain on a Budget

Traveling Southern Spain by train may seem like the obvious choice, but the accommodation and eating opportunities are far less abundant than those located nearby. If you want to eat locally, then you have options of restaurants in Cadiz and Granada. If you want to be closer to the main attractions, such as the Alhambra and the Granada castle, then you have to take a one-way bus ticket to Almeria or Seville. A late afternoon trip along the Costa Blanca could also be an option if you prefer to spend more time sightseeing.
One of the most famous routes in Southern Spain, the Costa del Sol has everything needed to see all of the main attractions. If you’re staying at a hotel near Seville or Cadiz, you can take a late afternoon train ride to Granada and Alhambra. After visiting both of these famed Spanish cities, you can explore towns like Torremolinos and Pamplona. If you want to see the countryside of Cantabria with a little more depth, then you can take a one-way bus ticket to Murcia and take a day trip to the hamlet of Calpe. From there you can take a three-day drive through the mountains to reach the capital, Madrid.
If you’d rather get away from it all, then there’s no better way than to travel through Southern Spain on a budget. You can stay in one of the small rural towns and visit the rustic hamlets that dot the landscape. Alternatively, you can travel through Spain’s interior, taking in the sights and sounds of the many small towns that have been developed since the rest of the country took a leave from the war. A one-way bus ticket to Albacete will take you directly to the town, where you can wander around and enjoy the bustling bars, restaurants, and tapas centers that characterize this part of the town. If you like something a little more cosmopolitan, then you can make your way to Seville for the world-famous Canaries, or Fuengirola for the lively Art Nouveau architecture of the town.
